MARGARET "MEG" PHELPS
I am an Arts educator, curator, writer, and professor at Ventura College, teaching Art History, Art Appreciation, and the History of Photography online and in the classroom. Art has been the spontaneous product of human culture for at least 100,000 years, and for good reason: it is an essential element to human expression, a means to processing our experiences and expounding on our deepest beliefs. It works simultaneously on intellectual, spiritual, and physical levels to create an understanding unparalleled by any other form of expression. In my work as a Professor of Art History, as a Museum Educator, and an Independent Exhibit Curator, my goal is always the same: to shape an experience by which viewers feel invited and empowered to access Art for personal meaning and edification.
